Frodo was our first Golden Retriever, purchased the same year we were married – 1979. Frodo finished his championship before he was 2 years old. He had one leg on his UD, which he obtained on April Fools day and never received another leg though countless efforts were made. He was x-rayed and determined to have significant spondylosis and he was retired from obedience work.

Frodo was our pseudo child and constant companion. He was actively used hunting/retrieving duck and geese. Those cold days at the lake are fondly remembered.

Frodo was only bred a few times as he was primarily overshadowed by Risto. However, Frodo was the sire of the first “Benden” litter when we leased Topbrass Mojo from Jackie Mertens in 1982. This was Benden's "Hi" litter. We still have the line that goes back to that breeding, which is behind Ch Benden World's Collide at MPG SH VCX and Benden’s Solitaire in the Ruff UD SH (10 breed points with 2 major reserves)
